Vein Visualization Now Infusion Nurses Society Standard Of Care
AccuVein Is Most Deployed Solution
The Infusion Nurses Society (INS) has enhanced and updated its hallmark resource, Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice, to include vascular visualization as a standard practice. AccuVein Inc. (www.accuvein.com), the global leader in vein illumination with an estimated 85% share of the market, facilitates adherence to this standard with its easy to use, widely deployed AccuVein device.
Over 5,000 facilities around the world have deployed AccuVein vein visualization. Many of these facilities have made AccuVein standard of care with system wide deployments and inclusion in facility procedure guidelines.
The INS Standards cite not only that vascular visualization be employed but also that clinicians be competent in the use of the technology. AccuVein’s non-contact projection technology is a one-click solution that is easy for clinicians and can facilitate compliance with these criteria.
AccuVein’s nurse education partner, Medical Shipment (www.medicalshipment.com), has been working to bring AccuVein vein visualization to nurse education institutions to increase nurse familiarity and competency with the technology. Dan Micic, Medical Shipment CEO states “The interest we are seeing from nurse education facilities is impressive; we’re thrilled to be partnering with AccuVein during this exciting time.” Those looking to get their nursing education through an online course can learn more about this degree offered by Bradley University.
“”Look once, stick once” is a dream for many patients who are subjected to multiple painful sticks for venous access,” says Ron Goldman, AccuVein CEO. “This recognition and endorsement of vein visualization by the INS will help to ensure that we are meeting one of healthcare’s great challenges with the best tools possible.”
AccuVein transformed vein illumination when it launched the first lightweight, portable, non-contact device in 2009. The device provides a map of the patient’s vasculature directly on the skin’s surface. Our third generation AV500 draws from proprietary technology contained in AccuVein’s extensive patent portfolio, which includes over 50 issued patents to date. The award-winning AccuVein device has been shown to decrease pain, improve patient outcomes and satisfaction as well as reduce operating costs.
