AccuVein Inc. Named Winner of the 2014 Red Herring Top 100 Global Award
Long Island, NY – November 24, 2014 – AccuVein Inc., the global leader in vein illumination, has been named a winner of the prestigious Red Herring 2014 Top 100 Global Award which honors the year’s most promising private technology.. AccuVein was chosen from hundreds of companies from around the world for its innovative technology.
“Choosing the companies with the strongest potential was by no means a small feat,” said Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “We believe AccuVein embodies the vision, drive and innovation that define a successful entrepreneurial venture.”
Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration.
“I am pleased with the recognition of the significant problem that AccuVein’s technology solves”, said Joe Zott, AccuVein Vice President of Engineering. “The selection of AccuVein further validates the decision of customers in the 61 countries in which AccuVein has been adopted to eliminate the needless pain associated with venipuncture that too many patients face.”
Venipuncture is the most common invasive medical procedure with an estimated 2.7 million procedures conducted every day in the United States alone. The AccuVein vein visualization device can help reduce the need for multiple needle sticks, with the ultimate goal of improving patient care and the time to access veins. A recent study showed a striking 45% reduction in escalation calls following the implementation of the AccuVein, with 81% of the nurses reporting an improved ability to cannulate veins. The Infusion Nurses Society is now recommending the use of vein visualization in their 2014 guidelines.
